One of the missions of the Welty Crain Family Foundation is uncovering family stories, writing them, printing, and sharing them with each other and with Historical Societies and Libraries associated with each family story.
The Life and Times of XX series, will be an interractive book of one couple, not an entire genealogy of many generations, just a single family. The books will be presented like a story, not a list of names and dates. The layout will include photos, maps, and other historical documents with the goal of including copies of original records. In this way, the reader can hold, and read the documents as they were found in historical archives.
Imagine holding a Revolutionary Pay application, a page of a diary from the before the Civil War, the front page of the newspaper from the day Lincoln is assasinated (the headline of which is a lot less impressive than you'd think), the advertisement of a saddle shop in Ventura, California, or an obituary from McGrath, Alaska, and each of these documents is from a part of the life of your ancestor.
The Life and Times of XX series is intended to do just that. To create a legacy of books that you can read and that will connect you to the history of our shared family.
